Citronella (Cymbopogon nardus) essential oil benefits 

Citronella is an excellent insect deterrent and deodorizing essential oil. Citronella is not only a well-known insect and moth repellent but also a cat repellent. Its uplifting and refreshing aroma will improve when in synergy with Geranium and Lemongrass. 

GENERAL INFORMATION

Botanical Name: Cymbopogon nardus

Method of Extraction: Steam distillation of the leaves

Origin: Thailand, India, Indonesia

Color: Yellow

Aroma: Rich, fresh, sweet, lemony

Note: top

Blends well with:  Eucalyptus, Lemongrass, Bergamot, Cedarwood, citrus oils, Geranium, Pines, Tea Tree

Therapeutic properties: Insecticide, deodorant, disinfectant, stimulant

HOW TO USE

 
Spray Citronella diluted in water as an insect repellent  (dilute 3-4  drops max every 5 ml of water or hydrosol).

 
Add 3-5 drops every 5 ml of carrier oil or cream or gel for longer-lasting insect protection than water-based insect repellent.

 
Can be a skin irritant and sensitizer – please skin patch test.  Avoid during the first trimester of pregnancy and babies.
