Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus globulos) essential oil benefits

Eucalyptus is a powerful antiseptic. It aids the respiratory system by opening the airways and clearing mucus. Eases aches and pains.

Eucalyptus is a very invigorating and active oil; it clears the mind and body. Very useful in supporting the respiratory system especially during cold months, it has stimulating, cleansing qualities that have a useful application on the body, including muscle soreness and fever.

Eucalyptus grown in the Atlas range of central Morocco and Portugal is milder when compared to the same species from Australia or China. The Australian Eucalyptus tree is one of the tallest trees in the world, reaching up to 100 meters. There are over 500 species of Eucalyptus trees. The name Eucalyptus has Greek origins: ‘eu‘ and ‘kalypto‘ means ‘well’ and ‘covered’, referring to the membrane that covers the flower bud. It has been used for centuries by the Australian Aborigines for many purposes. Eucalyptus oil was introduced to Europe in 1788, and the first oil exported to England was called ‘Sydney peppermint’.
